Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro. In 1989 she published the first study showing that eye movements can reduce the intensity of disturbing thoughts. Today, EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. EMDR seems to have a direct effect on the way that the brain processes information. Normal information processing is resumed and relieves the client of reliving traumatic events over and over in their minds. EMDR is similar to what occurs naturally during dreaming or rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. Therefore, EMDR can be thought of as a physiologically based therapy that helps a person see disturbing material in a new and less distressing way.
Health Coaching offers clients improved quality of life through nutrition and exercise education and individualized plans targeted to help resolved symptoms of poor focus and attention, anxiety, insomnia, and depression and weight loss.
