Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro. In 1989 she published the first study showing that eye movements can reduce the intensity of disturbing thoughts. Today, EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. EMDR seems to have a direct effect on the way that the brain processes information. Normal information processing is resumed and relieves the client of reliving traumatic events over and over in their minds. EMDR is similar to what occurs naturally during dreaming or rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. Therefore, EMDR can be thought of as a physiologically based therapy that helps a person see disturbing material in a new and less distressing way. EMDR therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. The American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological Association, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, National Alliance on Mental Illness, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the U.K. National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs/Dept. of Defense, The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, and the World Health Organization among many other national and international organizations recognize EMDR therapy as an effective treatment.

Health Coaching offers clients improved quality of life by finding personal purpose and meaning, creating financial stability, wellness, and community.  Dr. Botts offers education about how to find your specific purpose in this world, budgeting and balance with money, nutrition, exercise, and how to find your specific community of others. Dr. Botts offers targeted 6-month coaching programs to help you create the life you want. Creating a healthy lifestyle take support and practice as well as dedication and commitment. Dr. Botts will help you through this process with her health coaching program. 

Teaching adults of all ages how to engage in Structured Relaxation to reduce the negative effects of stress. Structured relaxation has been shown to improve symptoms of depression, anxiety, and insomnia to name a few of the benefits.
